JENNIFER JONES

Jennifer Jones is a retired Primary School Teacher and Librarian who has used storytelling as a way of teaching many concepts within classrooms.  Classes she has taught have won Annual Maths prizes based on novels.  Jennifer believes a child’s love of reading begins with their parents, as did her love of reading, and to be effective will encompass a broad range of categories in fiction and non-fiction.

Jennifer is proud to be able to say in the schools where she was Teacher/Librarian there were almost 100% readership/borrowing from grade Prep to Year 6.  She attributes this to the children’s enthusiasm for reading and storytelling that was done with drama, emphasis and interaction.

Because Jennifer was an avid reader from an early age she believes love of reading is an important tool in the understanding and deciding that’s required for work and actions.  She is a great advocate for well told stories that pull listeners into the adventure, so they become an integral part of the story.

When you watch and listen to Jennifer read to a group of children you are able to see her belief in the magic of storytelling in action.
